Goals

A few years ago, the one argument that often shook the walls of our walk-up apartment was my mother nagging me about not having goals. So there I was trying to figure out my life at a tame age of 15. My aspirations jumped from being an Architect, to an Interior Designer, then a Civil Engineer - are you seeing a pattern here? They're all related to designing and putting up buildings - both on the outside and the inside - with a little bit lot of math involved.

Then one day I called in sick, was down with the flu, so I was sitting glumly in front of the TV flicking lazily through the channels. I settled on Discovery Channel and Dr. G: Medical Examiner was on. So I'm thinking, "Hey, I wanna do that". I do a double take. To do that I've gotta go through Med School. My brain start rattling as if pots and pans are banging up there. As a child, brilliant as I was and though family friends never forgot to mention how much potential I have to be a doctor, I never dreamed of being a doctor. So back to the drawing board. As I wreck my brains for an ambition I would both be passionately interested in and reel in the greens, it hit me: I wanna be a Forensic Scientist.

And guess what? It stuck!

So here I my goals, which I know are subject to change, but I'll be crossing them out as I go and it would be lovely if you come along on my journey. I'll mark the day when I finally achieve them and the painful road travelled just to get there.
  • Study Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Hong Kong
    or

Study Bachelor of Life Science in Biochemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong
    or

Study Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry or Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology
  • Study Masters in Forensic Science at the University of New Haven
  • Work as a forensic scienctist or criminalist for the NYPD
  • Set up a Cafe as a family business for my mother
  • Write a murder mystery novel and get it published
Pretty ambitious, no? Chances are I'll have more in time, which I'll put up here to serve as a reminder why I started losing sleep at a tender age of 15.
